Nottingham Forest's comprehensive 3-0 victory over Ipswich Town at the City Ground on Sunday ensured that they will remain in the Sky Bet Championship for the 2017/18 campaign.

It has been a season to forget for those of a Forest persuasion and after some abysmal form on the road, along with some more kamikaze ownership, it had looked like the club would be relegated to League One.

Mark Warburton ensured he met his remit by securing survival, albeit by virtue of goal difference, which meant that it was Blackburn Rovers who suffered the indignity of a drop into the third tier.

The Reds' boss spoke in great detail following Sunday's game how the club must ensure that they are never in this situation again and you get the sense that with the right recruitment during the summer Forest can possible be a force to be reckoned with next season.

One area that the club should possibly look to strengthen during the summer is at central defence, with the Reds suffering injury problems during the current campaign which has meant some inconsistencies with team selection.

One man who would jump at the chance to move to the City Ground is Newcastle United defender Grant Hanley who has endured a frustrating season at St. James' Park since arriving during last summer.

According to www.transfermarkt.co.uk, the 25-year-old is valued at just £3.8 million and that would certainly fall within Forest's summer transfer budget and his Championship expertise could be a vital attribute for the Reds.

The ex-Blackburn defender has played just 10 games for the Magpies this season and for a player coming into his prime that simply isn't enough time on the pitch.

Following Newcastle's promotion to the Barclays Premier League it seems unlikely that Hanley will be offered more games for the club, especially considering he wasn't fancied by boss Rafa Benitez in the league below and a move to Forest could suit all parties.

Nottingham Forest fans, would you welcome Grant Hanley to the club? Let us know in the comments below!!!
