Sky Bet Championship club Nottingham Forest will turn to their prodigal son Nigel Clough and ask him to make an emotional return to be the club's next manager - if current boss Dougie Freedman cannot revive the Reds' fortunes.

Forest are currently on a run of six games without a win and it is understood that Freedman may be running out of time to win around the club's hierarchy, as they seek to climb into the top half of the Championship table.

The Reds are one of the lowest scoring teams in the second tier and according to the Telegraph they could be set to make a change within the next three games if results do not improve, and ex-Derby County manager Nigel looks to be the next man lined-up for the role.

A move for the 49-year-old boss would see him follow in his father's footsteps. His dad managed the Rams to the Division One title before moving to the Reds and winning two European Cup's with the Rams' fierce local rivals.

It now looks as though Freedman is in control of his own fortune for the next three games and if things haven't improved by the next international break, the Reds will make a change.

Forest currently occupy 16th position in the Sky Bet Championship, having amassed 14 points from 13 league games so far this season.

Freedman takes his Forest side to Hillsborough on Saturday to face a Sheffield Wednesday, who will be in a positive mood, after their 3-0 victory over Premier League giants Arsenal in the Capital One Cup.

Forest fans... What do you make of this news? Clough gave many youngsters the chance to play first-team football at Derby, surely that would be a good thing? Can you look past the time he spent at the Rams? Let us know below!
