New Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi is reportedly bringing Portuguese coach Bruno Baltazar in as his assistant manager.

The Frenchman worked with Baltazar while at Qatari side El Jaish SC and, according to Portuguese publication Zerozero, the two are set to be reunited at the Reds.

The 41-year-old is understood to be joining Forest as a "deputy" and will link up with the side at their pre-season training camp in Spain.

Baltazar was the manager of Estoril in the second tier of Portuguese football for the second half of last season.

He has previously managed Greek sides APOEL Nicosia and AEL Limassol, as well as a number of other Portuguese sides.

Baltazar will join Forest along with a number of new staff under the new manager, who was swiftly named as Martin O'Neill's replacement after he was sacked last week.

O'Neill took charge at the City Ground in January to succeed Aitor Karanka and led the club to a ninth-place finish last season, eight points off the play-offs.

The Verdict

Lamouchi will want to get some familiar faces around him as he prepares for his first season in English football, and Baltazar is exactly that.

The 41-year-old served as his assistant manager for 50 games at El Jaish between 2015 and 2016.

The Forest management will be hoping the new boss can recreate the success he had during his first season with French side Rennes.

The Frenchman led the side to a fifth-place finish in Ligue 1 and qualified for the Europa League but was sacked the following season.

With just 31 days until they begin the 2019/20 Championship campaign against West Bromwich Albion, it is vital the club do everything they can to help the new manager prepare his side for the upcoming season.
