Nottingham Forest could be set for a hectic end to the transfer window, with the Championship side still trying to do business.

The club have now been linked with a deal to bring in a Premier League youngster too, as reported by The Guardian journalist Will Unwin but no name has been revealed as of yet.

Forest have been rejuvenated since Steve Cooper took over, with the club going from relegation contenders to play-off dreamers. The side will most definitely be thinking about trying to nab a top six spot in the second half of the campaign and they will want to ensure they are well equipped with the personnel to do so.

There have been several names linked with a move to the City Ground this month, as well as some linked with exits but this latest report suggests that the Championship side could move to bring in a young Premier League player on a deal before the window is done.

There are plenty of contenders that fit that mould, with a lot of exciting talent currently plying their trades for some of the Premier League's academy sides. We've already seen some make moves too, such as Dilan Markanday making the switch to Blackburn.

It looks like Forest too could be searching in that market and while there has been no name released or deal done as of yet, it will give the club's fans some optimism, as looking for young talent to help out is the right kind of pool to be doing your business in.

The Verdict

While there is no name revealed as to who they could be bringing in, to simply hear that Forest are considering a move for a young Premier League star should be good news for supporters of the club.

Granted, it's probably going to be a loan deal and some may prefer to promote talent of their own rather than to give other team's young prodigies action but as we've seen in the past in the Championship, a move like this can often pay dividends.

A young player who has not yet had the chance to prove themselves in regular competitive football will be determined to show that they can cut it - and that could benefit a team that loans them. You only have to look at someone like Eddie Nketiah when he went to Leeds or Harvey Elliott with Blackburn to see what can happen.

Forest then could certainly benefit from someone like that coming into their side. If they have a similar impact, then it could definitely help them land a play-off spot.
