Nottingham Forest have pulled out of the running to sign Swiss striker Michael Frey, a club insider from Nottingham Forest has confirmed to Football League World.
The 21-year-old was due to begin training with the East Midlands-based club this week in order to allow the Forest coaching staff to take a closer look at the player.
It has now become apparent that the Reds are no longer looking to recruit the player and the reason could be to do with the Financial Fair Play stipulations Forest are working within.
The Reds can only have a maximum of 25 players in their squad and with an offer currently on the table which would see Lukas Jutkiewicz come to the City Ground as part of the deal which would see Henri Lansbury go to Turf Moor, the Reds have been forced to reassess their resources.
The reason is yet to be confirmed by anyone at the club and no doubt anxious Forest fans will await the official line.
Dougie Freedman’s Forest face Charlton Athletic at the City Ground tonight, in a game that the Reds will be eager to win.
