Nottingham Forest have announced the double signing of Juan Rafael Fuentes and Stefanos Kapino via their official website.

The pair link up with the East Midlands side ahead of their must win home clash with Hull City, having been released by former clubs Osasuna and Olympiacos.

Free agents so not bound by the restrictions of the transfer window, Fuentes links up with Karanka having been let go by Spanish second tier side Osasuna at the end of the 2016/17 season, with Kapino joining following a successful spell with Greek champions, Olympiacos.

Kapino has signed an eighteen-month deal having played in both the Champions League and Europa League for the European regulars, with the 23-year-old also a fully-fledged Greek international.

The Verdict

Karanka has worked hard to improve his squad over the past few weeks, and the arrival of the pair is further testament to what the former Middlesbrough boss is trying to achieve at The City Ground.

Both experienced players with the ability to shine in the second tier, their arrival will leave players already at the club sweating, especially goalkeeping duo Costel Pantilimon and Jordan Smith.

Competition for places is now extremely high, and fans will hope this will force improvement in the coming weeks.
