Nottingham Forest have completed the permanent signing of loan star Tobias Figueiredo, according to reports in Portugal.

Figueiredo played his eleventh game of the season for Nottingham Forest in the 2-1 win over Ipswich this weekend and that has triggered a clause in his contract to make the deal permanent, Portuguese media outlet Record is reporting.

The central defender is currently on loan at The City Ground from Sporting Lisbon but this deal now looks likely to go through permanently in a deal worth around €2.3m.

Figueiredo joined Forest in January and he has now played 11 matches, impressing the Reds' fans with dominant displays at the back.

The Portugal under-23 international had only played one match for Sporting CP this season before his January switch and that came as a 12-minute substitute cameo in their Champions League victory over Olympiakos.

With Figueiredo surplus to requirements at Sporting CP, the Portuguese defender moved to England in the hope of reigniting his stalling career and he is now likely to extend his stay at Nottingham Forest for next year.

The 6ft 2in centre half only played 15 league games for Sporting CP's first team and he has previously had loan spells with Spanish side Reus and Portuguese outfit Nacional.

The Verdict

This is excellent news for Nottingham Forest fans as they have secured the services of their best defender for next season. Furthermore, to sign him for such a cheap price is very good business, particularly in today's market. Figueiredo is thriving under Aitor Karanka and he will be an integral part of next season's plans.
