Nottingham Forest have confirmed that Daryl Murphy has left the club, with the striker joining up with Bolton.

The 36-year-old is completely out of favour at the City Ground and hasn't been involved in the squad this season under Sabri Lamouchi.

So, the club are happy to let the former Ireland international go and the Reds confirmed on their official site that they had reached an agreement with the player to mutually terminate his deal.

That ends Murphy's two years in the east Midlands and in that time he weighed in with 11 goals from 55 appearances, with just four of those coming last season.

By doing that, the experienced target man was able to complete a deal with Bolton, with the League One side confirming his arrival on their official site shortly after.

He was one of nine players brought in by the Trotters, who are bottom of the third tier on -11 points.

The Verdict

This isn't really a surprise as Murphy was out of contract at the end of the season and wasn't going to feature for Forest this season.

Given his age and his contract status, the Championship side weren't going to get a fee for the player, so this makes sense and Bolton have landed a good player who will do a job for them.

From Murphy's perspective, he will want to be playing regularly before retiring so it's a good for him to be leaving and the focus now is to make a positive impression at his latest club.
