Nottingham Forest striker Apostolos Vellios is set to move back to Greece this summer with Olympiacos set to sign the striker.

That's according to Greek media outlet SDNA who claim he will join up with the Greek giants in the coming months.

Vellios has endured a very tough time in the East Midlands, failing to establish himself as an important member of the squad.

In fact, the 26-year old has managed just 11 appearances in the league this season, with most coming in the past few months under Aitor Karanka.

Previous manager Mark Warburton was not a fan of the former Everton striker, with Vellios often failing to make the squad.

However, that changed under Karanka who turned to the target man to try and end Forest's dismal record in front of goal but that hasn't really worked.

In his 11 appearances, Vellios has scored just once, a late strike in the 3-0 win over Barnsley ten days ago.

He will be joining an Olympiacos side that have struggled this season, with the side set to finish third in the top-flight.

The Verdict

This is a good move for Vellios and Forest because it's clear that he isn't going to get regular games at Forest next season.

Therefore, the chance to play regularly at a club like Olympiacos will appeal and it creates space in Karanka's squad for a much-needed new signing.

It promises to be a very busy summer at the City Ground and this will be one of many deals we hear about in the coming weeks.
