Nottingham Forest visited Wembley at the weekend where they were able to overcome Huddersfield Town 1-0 to gain promotion to the Premier League.

Forest were the better side on the day but it was a Levi Colwill own goal that proved to be the difference.

However, with the victory ending the Reds' 23 year absence from the top fight, they won't mind who's goal it was that made the difference.

Fans turned out in numbers in the city centre yesterday but as much as they will be eager to celebrate though, attentions at the City Ground will quickly turn to the summer transfer window as they aim to make the necessary additions to their side to try and cement their spot in the Premier League.

Speaking at an event yesterday, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis told fans (via Nottinghamshire Live): "Now is the time to give Steve all the ammunition he needs, to be able to not only survive but bring some good results. We have to invest more.

"Everybody talks about the television rights and money that comes in, but it is not enough for clubs in the first year.

"That's why we must not be the poorer relatives of the Premier League. We need to buy some good players and some that will make the difference and have the experience who know the division."

However, he was also keen to assure fans that he would be careful with money as he warned: "We need to be careful how we spend and make the right choices."

The Verdict:

Forest have a lot to celebrate and the minute and they deserve to enjoy it given the brilliant job they have done this season.

However, it's also hopeful to see that the owner is keen to get business underway too and seems committed to supporting Steve Cooper financially this window.

Furthermore, he also seems to be wise about potential financial barriers and keen not to put his side in a poor position. Therefore, if they can get the recruitment right in terms of who they bring in, then they could have a great shot at staying in the top flight next season.
