Nottingham Forest’s, Mustapha Carayol, has issued a message on his personal Twitter account, insisting he will not be kept down.

Carayol’s opportunities at the City Ground under Mark Warburton have been limited this season, with the winger featuring on just six occasions across all competitions.

The 29-year-old has scored two goals from those six appearances, but his only start of the season came in the Carabao Cup against Shrewsbury in early August.

Despite his limited opportunities, Carayol took to social media to deliver a positive message, which read:

Warburton opted to leave Carayol out of his matchday 18 for Sunday’s defeat to Derby County in the East Midlands derby.

Goals from Matej Vydra and David Nugent handed the Rams a 2-0 victory, which left Forest with six defeats in their last eight Championship fixtures.

That worrying run of results has seen the Reds slip down the Championship table, Warburton’s side now 14th with 15 points after 12 fixtures.

Forest are now five points behind sixth placed, Leeds United.

Warburton’s side will be looking to return to winning ways on Saturday, when they welcome Burton Albion to the City Ground.

The Verdict

Carayol is staying positive in a difficult time, where he is struggling to break into Warburton’s plans.

The winger is inconsistent, but his performances have been reasonably positive this season, and he could be a player Forest turn to as they look to end a miserable run of form.

Carayol is direct and would bring pace to Forest’s side – he is certainly a player Warburton should consider using more regularly.
