Nottingham Forest on the brink of major £54m takeover deal

Nottingham Forest are close to being taken over by the American John Jay Moores. reports the Sun.

After weeks of speculation, the deal looks close to being finalised after a US consortium group led by John Jay Moores was given approval by the FA and Football League.

Forest fans will be delighted to see the back of Fawaz Al Hasawi who has done nothing but brought trouble and embarrassment upon the club during his time in charge.

John Jay Moores is reportedly already at work at the club as he looks to bring in the former AFC Bournemouth chairman Trevor Watkins as the new Chief Executive, as well as other positions to help stabilise the club in the long term.

The fate of current boss Philippe Montanier, who was very much an appointment influenced by the previous potential buyers in Evangelos Marinakis, will be deliberated.

However, two wins in their forthcoming home games against Preston and Wolves will increase the chances of the Frenchman keeping his job.

It is exciting times for the East Midlands club with what looks like will be a fresh start going into the new year.
