Nottingham Forest's new record signing Joao Carvalho has spoken to the Nottingham Post about his desire to win promotion with the Reds, and pointed out last season's title winners Wolves as an 'inspiration'.

The midfielder, signed last week for a whopping £13m by Forest - who linked up with agent Jorge Mendes to complete the deal - was speaking for the first time since sealing his move to the club along with fellow Portuguese starlet Diogo Goncalves.

And he believes that although promotion is the main thing for himself during his time with Forest, he is aiming to do just as well as Wolves did last season.

“I hope that, at least, we can win promotion and if we can do as well as they did, that would be better – but the most important thing is just to win promotion, however we do it. That is our goal. That is the most important thing. But Wolves are an inspiration.” said Carvalho.

The Forest fans will be hoping that their new man can have a similar impact of that which Ruben Neves did for Wolves last season, with the Portugal man guiding the Molineux club to the title with considerable ease.

Carvalho also praised manager Aitor Karanka, saying he 'likes how he wants them to play' and that he is hoping to 'give something back to the manager' over the course of the season.
