Multiple Premier League and Championship clubs are reportedly circling Leeds United winger Jack Clarke ahead of a potential return to his parent club Tottenham Hotspur in January.

Spurs signed the teenager for a reported fee in the region of £10 million in the summer and sent him back on a season-long loan to Elland Road.

Clarke has found first-team opportunities very difficult to come by for the Whites in the 2019/20 campaign, appearing just once in the Championship and making two Carabao Cup appearances.

There is understood to be a recall clause in the winger's loan deal and given his lack of senior minutes, it appears likely that will be used.

According to Football Insider, Leeds are expecting the Premier League club to recall Clarke in January.

The report claims that a number of Premier League and Championship sides are interested in taking the 18-year-old on loan for the second half of the season, with Nottingham Forest named as one of the interested parties.

A product of the Leeds academy system, Clarke broke through into the Leeds first team under Marcelo Bielsa last season–making 25 appearances in total and regularly being used from the bench to add attacking impetus.

He proved a useful option for the Argentine coach in the 2018/19 campaign but seems to have fallen down the pecking order at Elland Road.

It appears that he is unlikely to be short of offers if he does leave at the turn of the year.

The Verdict

Things have not gone the way Clarke or Spurs must've been hoping they would when the teenager rejoined Leeds in the summer.

That said, we saw from his performances last season that, while raw, the teenager is clearly an exciting prospect, so the reported attention from Premier League and Championship clubs is understandable.

It will be interesting to see what the reception is like if he joins another Championship club in January and has to feature for them away at Elland Road.
