Nottingham Forest supporters can look forward to an exciting summer on the transfer front with the club clearly looking to flex their ambition with a series of high profile transfers.

Boss Aitor Karanka knows that he must do a lot better than last season's 17th place finish and the club's hierarchy have stated previously that challenging for promotion needs to be on the agenda in the coming years.

Highly rated Portuguese duo Joao Carvalho and Diogo Goncalves look set to arrive at the City Ground next week if you believe what is printed in the newspapers but Karanka's summer spending is unlikely to end there.

Forest need new recruits in most areas and several of the players that have been reportedly subject to interest from the Reds will be sought after by other clubs.

Forest were desperately short of goals last season and a man capable of finding the net is an immediate priority for the Reds.

Marriott scored 33 times for Peterborough United last season and with up to 10 clubs reportedly interested in the hotshot, Forest might need to move quickly.

The goalkeeper was on loan at the City Ground for the second half of last season and a series of top performances adhered him to the Forest faithful.

A good stopper is worth an extra 20 points a season and it is vital that Forest get the Romanian tied down to a permanent deal soon, with Aston Villa said to be interested in his services too.
