Nottingham Forest are still close to completing a deal for Man City goalkeeper Arijanet Muric, despite the managerial change at the club this past week.

Forest had looked set to sign the young stopper when Martin O'Neill was in charge, but his dismissal threatened to ruin some of the work which had gone in to identifying summer transfer targets.

However, according to Alan Nixon, a move for City man Muric is indeed still on for the Reds, with the club reportedly agreeing a deal for Muric before Sabri Lamouchi took the reins a few days ago.

The Reds are desperate for some new signings this summer and Man City youngster Muric is regarded as one of the top young goalkeepers in the Premier League, despite not getting a look in at the Etihad thanks to the form of Brazilian, Ederson.

Forest have once again chosen to replace their manager, getting rid of club legend O'Neill after less than six months in charge and replacing him with Frenchman Lamouchi, who will be keen to make his own impact at the City Ground as the summer progresses.

Muric has height and presence about him but the 20-year-old needs some game time, something he might well get at the City Ground with the jury still out it seems on Romanian goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon.

The Verdict

This is good news for Forest really and somthing their fans will no doubt breathe a sigh of relief at.

They now have a good few weeks of the summer left to back Lamouchi and bring in suitable players to improve the squad, of which Muric is certainly that.

The Man City youngster is highly regarded by Pep Guardiola, so Forest would be getting themselves a fine young goalkeeper if indeed they can seal a deal.
