Nottingham Forest target Nigel Pearson is set to join Aston Villa once the dispute surrounding the club’s ownership is concluded, according to the Nottingham Post.
Pearson was on the shortlist to replace Dougie Freedman at the City Ground, although he is now favourite to take over at recently relegated Villa next season.
Villa, however, are delaying the appointment until the club is sold to new owners, with current owner Randy Lerner looking to conclude a deal in the near future.
Pearson was pictured at the City Ground last month, with many fans believing that his close links to Nottingham, the place of his birth, would lead to him being appointed by Fawaz Al Hasawi.
Villa, however, would surely represent a greater proposition for Pearson as he looks to add another promotion to his CV, having led Leicester City to the Championship title in the 2013/14 season.
Forest currently sit in 17th place in the Championship on 52 points from 45 games, with Paul Williams’ side concluding their campaign at relegated MK Dons next Saturday.
