Nottingham Forest are in the midst of a difficult run having lost three of their past four games, yet Mark Warburton’s side remain within touching distance of the playoff places.
The Reds have without a doubt been one of the most exciting teams in the division this season, but their inability to string together a run of results has seriously halted their rise up the table.
Just one case of back-to-back wins all season, Warburton’s young side lack the consistency to challenge for promotion, although their impressive home form has kept them in the mix.
Warburton has made changes to his side in recent weeks as he attempts to stem the flow of bad results, with defender Armand Traore missing the past two matches having been dropped for poor form.
However Warburton has hinted the former Arsenal man could be close to a return to the starting XI.
“Armand trained well again today (Friday) and he wants to push hard for his place,” Warburton told The Nottingham Post.
“This is what I want, I want competition in the squad.
“I want players who are hungry to play, committed to play and desperate to drive this club forward.”
However Warburton refused to go as far as to reveal if Traore would be back in the side this weekend.
“I am not going to reveal my team, obviously,” he told journalists pressing for an answer.
Warburton will be delighted by Traore’s commitment to return to the side since he was dropped, with the former Brentford manager’s decision having the desired effect.
Traore is a fantastic player who has played well in spells this semester, and is likely to be back in the first-team in due course.
Having impressed in training and with Forest in poor form, Traore is likely to be reintroduced to the side, and will hope to inspire the Reds to victory at Preston on Saturday afternoon.
