Nottingham Forest youngster Adam Crookes has admitted that he is unsure whether he will be offered a new deal by the club at the end of the season, as per reports from the Nottingham Post.

The 21-year-old has been on the East Midlands' club's books since 2005, and caught the eye after a string of impressive performances in the youth team.

The defender, who can also operate as a holding midfielder, is yet to make a senior appearance for the Reds in his lengthy spell with the club, but has endured some impressive loan spells on loan with League Two sides Lincoln City and Port Vale this term.

With his current deal at the City Ground expiring at the end of the current campaign, Crookes has spoken out about his future with the Reds - admitting that he is unsure whether he'll be offered a new deal or not.

He said: "I am just focusing on my game at the minute and getting these appearances under my belt - come the end of the season we will see what happens. Nothing is set in concrete yet so we will see."

“My contract is up at the end of the year so, at the minute, I haven’t got long there. But they might offer me something more, so it is a case of seeing what Forest offer me first and then go from there."

Forest's youth academy has produced a host of talented players over the last few years, with the likes of Ryan Yates become the latest player to make the step-up to the first-team.

Martin O'Neill's men currently sit 11th in the Sky Bet Championship table, three points off the top six after going two wins without a win.

The Verdict

I feel for Crookes in some ways, as he should have been given a chance to impress in the first-team.

He has been a solid figure for Port Vale this season, and has shown signs that he is capable of making an impact under O'Neill.

He will be looking to follow in the same footsteps as Ryan Yates, who impressed on loan in League Two last season and is now a regular under O'Neill.
