Shrewsbury Town have completed the signing of Jason Cummings from Nottingham Forest after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for the striker.

The Scotsman has endured a pretty disastrous time with the Reds since he arrived from Hibs back in the summer of 2017 with a big reputation after his form in Edinburgh, where he scored the goals to take them back to the Scottish Premiership.

He managed just one goal from 14 league appearances and has been sent out on loan to Rangers, Peterborough and Luton since with limited success.

Therefore, he was always going to struggle to get game time at the City Ground and a transfer always seemed to be on the cards.

And, Forest confirmed on their official site earlier today that the 24-year-old has joined Sam Ricketts' League One side and he will look to add much-needed firepower to the Shrews, who have scored just four goals in their opening six league games this season.

The Scotland international could make his debut for his new club when they take on Wimbledon after the international break.

The Verdict

This seems as though it's a great move for all parties as Cummings is not going to play at Forest and he needs to be getting minutes each week as he tries to get his career back on track.

From Shrewsbury's perspective, they will know they have a player with a lot of potential and if he can rediscover his form he will be a very good player in League One.

Ultimately, it's down to the player now though. He needs to start delivering and it will be interesting to see how he copes.
