Nottingham Forest's Ben Osborn has been named as the club's Player of the Season after winning the fans vote.

The 23-year old has been an ever present for the Reds this season, although he has been played out of position under new boss Aitor Karanka.

Priamrily a midfielder, the former Boro manager has used Osborn in a left-back role on the whole since arriving at the City Ground and he has shone.

The fans recognised that, with the Derbyshire-born player picking up the majority of the 2,500 votes. Fellow academy graduate Matty Cash came second in the votes with Danny Fox third.

Speaking to the official site, Osborn revealed just how proud he was to get the award.

"It is a great achievement; it feels good. It has not been the best season collectively, I have done as well as I can and played in a number of positions."

"I am happy to have featured for most of the season and to get some credit off the fans means a lot. There are some legends that have won it previously so it is nice to sneak my name on the trophy. I am overwhelmed really that I have got it."

The Verdict

It's been a very tough season for Forest but Osborn has been a positive with his displays, even if there wasn't much serious competition for this award.

He has battled on in an unfamiliar position and given his all throughout the campaign under the different managers.

It's nice for Osborn to get this recognition and he will look to kick-on next year in what everyone will hope is a more competitive Forest side.
