Nottingham Forest manager Mark Waburton has refused to criticise his players effort levels following the 1-0 loss against Birmingham City.

Speaking to Forest's official website following the game, the former Rangers manager tried to shed a positive light on the result at St Andrews, but did admit his team lacked quality at crucial times as they failed to find a way back into the game in the Midlands.

"We made the mistake after five minutes and you give the team who are fighting and scrapping something to hang on to. Despite dominating for long periods in the second half, we lacked that bit of quality in the final third to get our rewards." said Waburton.

The loss marked another lack of consistency from Forest this season, which is something what is becoming somewhat a tradmark for the club, and Waburton will be keen to address this and get the club on a long run of positive results over the Christmas period.

However, he was not too disheartened, and praised the fans once again as well as his players' desire to get something from the game.

"There was no lack of effort, the backing from the fans was outstanding, but it is so frustrating that we have come here, dominated for long periods of the game and not got anything out of it." he added.
