According to The Sun's Live Transfer Blog [Wednesday 8th August], Bolton Wanderers are hoping to sign Apostolos Vellios from Nottingham Forest.

Bolton are eyeing a £1.2m combined swoop for strikers Kyle Lafferty of Hearts and Vellios of Forest.

The Trotters are desperate to bolster their attacking options this summer, despite signing Clayton Donaldson to rival Adam le Fondre up top.

With just over a day left until the transfer window slams shut, Lafferty and Vellios are on their wishlist.

Vellios has been with Nottingham Forest for two years and has only scored eight goals in that time.

The 8-cap Greece international only managed two goals last season as he was made surplus to requirements.

The 26-year-old's chances of first-team football are looking increasingly slim at The City Ground with the arrivals of Hillal Soudani and Lewis Grabban.

But Bolton could offer him an escape route as they plot a £600,00 bid.

The Verdict

This move probably works for all involved parties.

Vellios is not going to get a game at Nottingham Forest and they will be pleased to receive a transfer fee for him.

Bolton need more firepower and Vellios is an extra face up front, while the player will be relieved for a fresh start elsewhere.
