Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Osborn is convinced that the club are heading in the right direction after a turbulent few years at the City Ground.

The 24-year-old, who came through the Reds academy, has played under six managers in his four years in the first-team but told the Nottingham Post that he thinks there is a long-term plan under Aitor Karanka.

"When a new manager takes over, everything changes. Hopefully we can have a bit of stability now and really build. Hopefully we can stick with this manager for a little while. That feels like the plan."

After a tough start, with the side drawing too many games, things are starting to look up for Forest, who head into the international break in fifth position.

And, Osborn credited the manager for that, revealing he is impressed with how he has created a spirit and togetherness in the squad.

"He changes people on performance and form, he does not go for names. He has brought us all together. It is the closest we have been, as a group. Including the subs and everyone, we are all buying into the same thing."

The East Midlands side are unbeaten in seven in all competitions, winning four of those games, and return to action on October 20 when they face Norwich at home.

The Verdict

There's a lot of optimism around Forest at the moment and you can see why.

On paper they have one of the best squads in the league and Karanka is a proven manager in the second-tier.

Clearly, going by Osborn's comments, he has got his big squad pulling in the same direction and that should worry their promotion rivals as Forest have the ability to be a real force this season.
