Nottingham Forest striker Jamie Ward is hoping to get off to a flying start for his new loan club Charlton Athletic this weekend.

The 32-year-old has joined the Addicks after seeing chances at the City Ground dry up after a summer of heavy Reds investment, and Ward, speaking to the Nottingham Post, the Northern Ireland man is hoping to get off to a flying start to his Charlton career.

“My job is to score goals for Charlton and that’s the plan. If I don’t score then I want to assist the forwards and the other players." said Ward.

“Obviously, I’d love to go and score on Saturday and hit the ground running. Hopefully there will be plenty of goals, but the most important thing is the team and the team doing really well. At the end of the day, I want to play football and as long as I stay injury free then hopefully that can be the case here, as long as I’m performing.” added the striker.

The former Sheffield United man should prove to be useful addition to the Addicks as they look to bounce back to the Championship, and Ward admitted in the article he had spoken to international teammate Josh Magennis about a move to the Valley.

Forest themselves will be looking to get some consistency in their game following the international break as they travel to Swansea City looking to improve on their 14th place in the table so far.
