Ben Brereton insists he will become a better player thanks to the increased competition at Nottingham Forest for next season.

The Reds have had an extremely busy summer brining in ten new players, which includes forwards Hillal Soudani and Lewis Grabban.

And, whilst they could potentially push Brereton down the pcking order at the City Ground, the youngster instead looked at how they will be able to improve him.

"Forest have got some strikers in, which is good competition for me. They are experienced forwards, so I can learn from them in training. It will be good," he told the Nottingham Post.

The 19-year old, who is currently away at the Euro U19 finals with England, was also determined to take an opportunity when it comes his way.

"All I can do is just do my best and try to score more goals. I’ll just take it game by game. It’s a long season, so it’s fine."

"I’ve just got to keep working hard, doing my best in training and when I do get a chance, try to impress. But more competition is a good thing."

The Verdict

Brereton clearly has a great attitude and it's great for Forest fans to see the youngster showing such a desire to get better.

His first-team chances will be limited initially you would think but as he says, working day in, day out with experienced strikers can only benefit him.

As well as that, it's a long, demanding season and Karanka will need to call on the youngster at times without doubt.
