Nottingham Forest striker Hillal Soudani has released a video on Twitter this morning that appears to show him back working with a ball ahead of a full return.

The 15 second clip shows him juggling a rugby ball in a sports hall, apparently a reference to him closing in on a return to action. The summer signing has had his season blighted by injury, but is now on the comeback trail, which will be a huge boost for Forest fans.

The 31-year-old Algerian joined from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-year deal. He's made just one Championship start for his club in a campaign blighted by injury.

He's scored twice for Forest, one goal giving them a 1-0 win against Reading, before a late leveller against Wigan earned them a point a couple of weeks later.

He's been out of action since October, a spell which has seen them fall away from the play-off race as well as replace the manager who signed him, Aitor Karanka.

News of a return will be a huge boost to Martin O'Neill as he looks to find an unlikely route into the top six.

The Verdict

Soudani was a high-profile arrival, but has not had a good season. Injury cut it short, but after three months of the campaign he had only got a single start in the league.

If he does have something to offer, he's got a very limited time in which to show it.
