Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Watson has lauded manager Sabri Lamouchi for helping him make improvements to his game during the opening weeks of the season.

The Reds have made a positive start to life under the guidance of their Frenchman following his appointment in June.

Whilst Lamouchi was unable to prevent defeat to West Bromwich Albion in his first match in charge of Forest, he has since led the club on an unbeaten run of nine games in all competitions.

Having beaten Swansea City in their most recent outing, the Reds will head into Saturday's clash with Barnsley brimming with confidence.

Watson has played a key role in Forest's recent resurgence having started all seven of their Championship games this season.

Speaking to the Nottingham Post about Lamouchi's impact on him, the midfielder said: "It's always nice when a manager believes in you as a player.

"I go out and I do my job for the team.

"I don't score the goals or create the goals, but I like to think I affect the game in the way they want me to do it.

"I'd like to think the manager and my team-mates do appreciate that."

Recently operating in a defensive midfield role for the Reds, Watson's willingness to provide cover has allowed the likes of Joe Lolley and Albert Adomah to sustain attacks on opposition defences.

The Verdict

With Watson becoming the latest player to praise Lamouchi, it is clear that there is currently a feelgood factor at the City Ground.

Having illustrated some real intent in the Championship already this season, the Reds will now be look to push on over the coming months.

Providing that Watson can continue to perform to a high-standard in the heart of Forest's midfield, there is no reason why he cannot help his side achieve a top-six finish next May.
