Swansea City are set to sign winger Barrie McKay from fellow Championship side Nottingham Forest this summer.

According to The Sun on Sunday (29/07, page 63), Graham Potters side are edging towards a deal to sign Nottingham Forest forward Barrie McKay.

The Scottish wide man played 27 games last season, scoring five times and providing seven assists from the left side of The Reds attacking line.

However, not many of those appearances came in the second half of the campaign, with Karanka bringing in his own players in January.

The Forest boss has been busy with inbound transfers this summer too, so the news that McKay could be on his way out at the City Ground won't surprise many.

McKay only signed for the Tricky Trees last summer for a reported £500,000 from Scottish Premier League side Rangers, but could just spend the one season at Forest amid the interest.

Nottingham Forest will be hoping that their new look squad will be able to improve on last season’s disappointing 17th place finish.

The Verdict

Aitor Karanka has done well for Forest in this summer’s transfer window so far, having bought in a number of new faces to bolster his squad for the new season.

Therefore, it was inevitable that some players would leave and McKay has not managed to establish himself as a key player under the former Boro boss.

Forest will still enter the season as one of the strongest sides on paper, which will come with a lot of expectations from the Forest faithful.
