New Nottingham Forest boss Aitor Karanka is currently in the midst of stamping his own mark at The City Ground, with HITC reporting that the Spaniard is set to add Queens Park Rangers coach Simon Ireland to his backroom staff.

Ireland has been working as Head of Coaching and Coach Education at Loftus Road since 2015, and Karanka is keen to add his experience to the coaching staff in the East Midlands in the coming days.

The former Middlesbrough boss has already initialised a complete shake up at Forest since taking over earlier in the month, with Juan Jose Vila, Carlos Cachada and Jose Miguel Marcos Costoso already brought in to aid his revolution at the club.

Well respected within the coaching community, former Huddersfield midfielder Ireland is keen to work alongside Karanka, with HITC reporting that the 46-year-old has already accepted an offer to move to the Midlands in a deal that should be finalised in the coming days.

The Verdict

Karanka has assembled a crack squad of top coaching talent following his arrival at Forest, and the addition of Ireland is further testament to the ambition shown by the Spaniard.

Forest are a club with a huge fan base and a lot of potential in their young side, with their youngsters set to experience a massive improvement in their ability whilst working under Karanka’s new backroom staff.

The former Boro boss must be given time to get things right at the club, and following their 2-0 win at league leaders Wolves on Saturday, it appears the new manager is already leading this talented squad in the right direction.
