Nottingham Forest and Stoke City are interested in signing Lawrence Shankland this summer, according to reports from the Daily Record (14:25pm),

The 24-year-old has been in prolific form for Dundee United this term, with the forward finding the net on a regular basis for the Scottish Championship side this season.

Shankland, who arrived at Dundee from Ayr United last summer, has scored 29 goals in 35 appearances for both club and country this term, and is likely to attract interest from various clubs this summer.

Have Stoke City done these 15 things in the last 10 years?

The Daily Record claim that Forest and Stoke are set to be in a tug-of-war for Shankland's signature, after a stunning debut season at United.

Having signed a three-year deal at Tannadice when he signed, United are in a strong position to demand a big fee for their talisman as they look to retain his services.

Forest were previously linked with Shankland in the January transfer window, as Sabri Lamouchi looked to provide Lewis Grabban with cover following Wolves' recall of Rafa Mir.

Grabban has been in superb goalscoring form with 17 strikes to his name this season, but at the age of 31, Lamouchi may look to bolster his attacking options ahead of a potential return to the Premier League.

The Verdict

Shankland is undoubtedly a superb goalscorer who has attracted plenty of interest from English clubs in recent seasons.

He has been prolific in Scottish League One and the Scottish Championship, but whether he'd be able to cut it at a big club like Forest, potentially playing in the Premier League, is a mystery.

I feel as if he'd be best off joining Stoke, as they are a big club whose style of play would suit the player.
