Nottingham Forest are locked in a transfer tussle with Derby County and Birmingham City for Crewe Alexandra defender Perry Ng according to TEAMtalk.

Ng is reportedly set to leave Crewe at the end of this year's campaign, and it seems as though his impressive performances for the League Two side haven't gone unnoticed.

The report from TEAMtalk also claims that Birmingham City, Charlton Athletic and Bristol City are also interested in landing Ng's signature.

Crewe Alexandra are flying high in League Two, and are well in contention to challenge for promotion from the fourth-tier of English football.

A move to Nottingham Forest could be a tempting proposition for the 23-year-old as well, as the Reds are currently challenging for promotion into the Premier League under the management of Sabri Lamouchi.

Ng was in action for Crewe Alexandra on Saturday in their game against Plymouth Argyle, and will be hoping he can continue to feature for the promotion-chasing League Two side.

The defender has made 37 appearances this season, but it seems as though his long-term future lies elsewhere, especially if a number of Championship sides are keen to sign him.

The Verdict:

He'll surely be tempted by a move elsewhere by the end of this year's campaign.

With the greatest of respect to Crewe Alexandra, they aren't going to be able to offer what the likes of Nottingham Forest and Derby County can at this moment in time.

They're both huge clubs, and at 23, it's the perfect time for Ng to further his development in professional football. It's a deal that suits both parties as well, as he'd add much-needed depth to their defensive ranks in the future.

Given that he is reportedly available on a free as well, it's a real coup for whichever side lands his signature.
