Championship side Nottingham Forest are being linked with a double swoop on Benfica to sign youngsters Diogo Goncalves and Joao Carvalho.

According to a report in the Nottingham Post, Reds manager Aitor Karanka is keen on adding the pair to his ranks over the summer as he looks to reshape his squad and avoid a third consecutive season battling relegation from the Championship.

Goncalves, who plays in midfield, and Carvalho, who plays more as a forward, are both highly thought of over in Portugal, but their club Benfica could be open to shifting the pair out on loan as they seek to get the youngsters move exposure to first team football.

Forest, who are keen to make new signings following a successful January window, will no doubt be delighted if they can capture the pair, although it is believed other clubs have registered interest as well.

Both players featured for Benfica last term in both the league and Champions League, but have found regular football hard to come by. Moving to Forest should guarantee them both more minutes on the field, and it could well be the ideal start to the summer if Forest can indeed land the pair.
