Writing in his latest column for the Nottingham Post, Nottingham Forest legend, Kenny Burns, has warned his former side they need to start picking up some points if they are to avoid relegation, starting with Saturday’s clash against Preston North End.

Just last month, Burns predicted Forest would only need two victories to maintain their Sky Bet Championship status, but with just one victory since then, the Reds are just one-point above the relegation zone.

With Forest flirting with the Championship relegation zone, Fawaz Al-Hasawi opted to replace Gary Brazil with Mark Warburton as first-team manager earlier this month.

Burns has now admitted he is unsure how many victories it would take for Forest to survive, but urged Warburton’s side they must pick up results quickly, he wrote:

“It's so tight down there I'm not going to make any more specific predictions this time about how many points Forest need in the last eight games to stay up, they just need to go out and win as many games as possible between now and the end of the season, starting at Preston on Saturday.

“The international break can sometimes come at the worst time for a club, if you're playing well, winning matches and everyone is confident, it's the last thing you want.

“But, for Forest, it came at the perfect time, giving the new manager Mark Warburton two weeks to work with his squad on the training ground.”

Forest’s last league outing saw Warburton pick up a point in a 2-2 draw with fierce rivals Derby County, a result, which left the club 20th in the Championship table and just one-point ahead of 22nd placed Blackburn Rovers.
