Nottingham Forest join West Ham and Brighton in chase for 11-goal striker

Published

Strasbourg’s Habib Diallo is the latest striker to be linked with a move to newly-promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest, as reported by ESPN’s Julien Laurens.

Forest will play in the top flight of English football for the first time in 23 years after winning the Championship play-off final last weekend against Huddersfield Town.

And since they secured their spot within England’s elite, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive, with plenty of players from across the globe believed to be on Steve Cooper’s radar.

The Reds are already sounding out the likes of Armando Broja and Islam Slimani if you believe reports when it comes to additions to the club’s front-line, and Diallo can now be added to that list.

Quiz: 23 things literally every Nottingham Forest fan should know – But do you?

When were the club founded?

The 26-year-old Senegalese striker, who has amassed 10 caps for his country, is coming off the back of an 11-goal season for Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg – who finished sixth in the top flight of France – following on from his nine goals in the 2020-21 campaign.

There is a battle on for Diallo’s signature though, with top flight rivals Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham United both apparently keen as well on the striker, per ESPN.

The Verdict

The rumour mill has well-and-truly gone into overdrive at the City Ground in the last week.

As well as wanting to do deals for all the loanees that played for the club in 2021-22, a lot of new names have been linked with switches to the Reds, and realistically not all of them can join or will be signed.

Diallo though would perhaps fit the mould of what CEO Dane Murphy is looking for when it comes to recruiting and potentially selling on for profit in the future.

The striker has a good goal record in France over the last two years and he perhaps could be a better investment than Keinan Davis, who despite playing well for Forest this past season, does not have a great scoring record in his career.
