Nottingham Forest are locked in a transfer tussle with Brentford and Reading to the signing of Toulouse midfielder, John Bostock according to The Sun (21st July, page 61).

The report claims that Forest are the first club to make an official enquiry into landing his signature ahead of the new Championship season.

Bostock has experience of playing in the Championship, as he stated his professional career with Crystal Palace back in the 2007/2008 season, where he made five appearances for the Eagles.

The midfielder has also been on the books with Tottenham Hotspur, making four appearances for the club across a three-year-spell.

The 27-year-old has struggled to settle down at a club, and only signed for Toulouse back in the summer of 2018, and could be tempted by a return to England.

He has been impressive in the French top-flight, and his good performances seemingly haven't gone unnoticed as a number of clubs are rumoured to be interested in signing him before the transfer window closes.

Nottingham Forest will be keen to add to their squad as they look to force themselves into the top-six next season, after a disappointing second-half of last year's campaign saw them miss out on a place in the play-offs.

The Verdict:

He's got a point to prove in English football.

All of the clubs interested in signing Bostock could all benefit from having additional depth in midfield, but I think Reading could be the best fit for him.

Jose Gomes needs midfield options after Lewis Baker's loan spell ended last season, and Bostock could be tempted by the prospect of playing regularly in the Championship.
