With Jed Wallace set to be out of contract in the summer, it seems as though interest in the player has now picked up, with Nottingham Forest keen to bring him to the City Ground with talks taking place, as reported by Mail Online.

The forward has shone for Millwall in recent seasons and this year has been no exception, with the 28-year-old managing a total of 11 goal contributions in just 21 Championship outings for his current club.

It's made him one of the first names on the teamsheet for Millwall and has made him an invaluable player for boss Gary Rowett to have at the Den. However, with his current deal set to run out at the end of the season, it seems as though there are now plenty of teams willing to do business for his services in the winter window.

One of these sides is Nottingham Forest, who have gone about their business quickly and efficiently so far this month. They've already made some signings and are now eyeing another attacking option in Wallace, with Steve Cooper eager to ensure his side are well prepared to challenge for a play-off spot in the second half of the campaign.

They aren't on their own in having an interest in the 28-year-old though, with Sky Sports claiming that there is already an agreement in place to see Wallace link-up with Besiktas at the end of the season.

If that deal is indeed in place, then it means that Forest may not have a chance to sign him now and he will likely see out his contract at the Den. However, with Forest willing to part ways with some cash now to seal a deal for him immediately, he could end up on his way to the City Ground if a deal hasn't been signed with the Turkish outfit.

The Verdict

Jed Wallace is a man in-demand and that comes as no surprise to anyone who has seen him play for Millwall over the last few seasons.

His productivity and creativeness in front of goal is outstanding and makes him one of the best players at the club and even one of the best players in the league. The fact that he could be snapped up on a free transfer with no fresh deal currently in place is a nightmare for the Lions, who could lose one of their best assets for nothing.

If there isn't a deal in place then that would see him join Besiktas, then they may have to seriously consider offloading him now. With so much interest in his services, he could have his head turned and they would rather have something for him then risk losing him for nothing at the end of the season.

He won't fetch a large fee considering his contract status and Nottingham Forest are divisional rivals but it would surely be worth considering a deal now where they could generate some income, rather than selling him on for not a penny in the summer.
