Manchester United youngster Nick Powell could be heading out on loan this month with Sky Bet Championship club Nottingham Forest reportedly at the front of the queue, according to The Sun (via Nottingham Post),
The midfielder was a teenage sensation when breaking through at Crewe Alexandra and his form for the Railwaymen, prompted ex-United boss Sir Alex Ferguson into taking him to Old Trafford.
His career as stagnated somewhat however and the next stage in his development is to play regular first-team football and Forest could definitely offer Powell that.
With doubts raised over the short-term future of Forest captain Henri Lansbury, who could join Queens Park Rangers this month, the Reds could soon have a void to fill in the middle of the park.
Forest do face stiff competition from fellow Championship clubs and Brighton, Wolves and Preston have all expressed a desire to sign the player on loan.
Forest have endured an inconsistent season so far this season, having accumulated 31 points from 25 league games this campaign.
Dougie Freedman’s side face Queens Park Rangers at the City Ground on Saturday in the Emirates FA Cup third round.
