Nottingham Forest are very interested in signing Lewis Grabban, according to a respected football journalist.

Forest manager Aitor Karanka has his sights set on Grabban and wants to bring him in this summer, Alan Nixon reports.

Bournemouth are willing to sell the striker, who has struck 20 goals in the Championship this season.

Grabban started the campaign on loan with Sunderland, where he netted 12 goals in 19 games before deciding that he did not want to remain at the club.

In January, he joined Aston Villa on a half-season loan deal and his tally of eight goals in 11 starts has helped the West Midlands outfit reach the play-offs.

The Villains may try to rival Forest for the 30-year-old but this could depend on whether they go up or not.

Nottingham Forest are very keen on signing Grabban as they make a new striker their priority this summer.

Apostolos Vellios has failed to impress yet again this season at The City Ground while Ben Brereton has suffered a loss of form and Daryl Murphy is now approaching the end of his career.

Nottingham Forest are now considering moves for Grabban and Peterborough United's Jack Marriott, who netted 33 goals in all competitions this term.

The Verdict

Nottingham Forest need a striker this summer and either Grabban or Marriott (or even both) would be superb signings.

Grabban has a proven track record in the Championship but he has failed to live up to expectations in the Premier League.

A move back to the Championship with Forest would see him get lots of playing time and he could help the Reds fight for promotion.
