Nottingham Forest have had three bids turned down by Fortuna Sittard for Zian Flemming, according to Voetbal Primeur.

Forest are looking to bring in Flemming before the new season, as they look to add more goal threat to their midfield.

The 22-year-old scored 15 goals in 35 games across all competitions last season, chipping in with seven assists too.

But Forest have been left frustrated in their pursuit of the attacking midfielder thus far, with Fortuna standing firm.

Voetbal Primeur have now provided a fresh summary of Forest's pursuit of Flemming, revealing that the Reds have had three bids rejected for the player.

Flemming, who is keen on a move to Forest, now looks set to miss out on a move to the City Ground due to Fortuna's high valuation.

Forest even offered players as part of any deal for Flemming, with the likes of Gaetan Bong, Carl Jenkinson and Harry Arter completely out of favour on Trentside.

But Fortuna are said to want "several million pounds" for their star midfielder, which may not work due to Forest's tight budget.

The Verdict

It's starting to become apparent that Forest do not wish to splash the cash lightly, and they may need to sell before they buy.

It's a tough window at the moment, and even though Flemming would be an investment, you cannot afford to pay over the odds in today's market.

Forest only have 17 days until the new season gets underway, and for me, it's about time they moved on to other targets now.
