Nottingham Forest have been handed a potential boost in their hopes of securing a loan move for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah this month, with Premier League Aston Villa not interested in the striker according to the Telegraph.

Sabri Lamouchi's side have been linked with a potential move for Nketiah this month, according to (Sky Sports Transfer Centre, 08/01/2020, 13.06),after the striker returned to Arsenal from his loan spell with Leeds United after finding starts hard to come by at Elland Road, although the forward did show his goal scoring ability netting some important goals from the bench.

Forest are in need of adding to their attacking options this month, with the Reds needing a more reliable option than Rafa Mir to help support Lewis Grabban and add a greater scoring threat for Lamouchi's side, as they look to mount a successful promotion challenge.

Given Aston Villa have now stepped out of the race for his signature, Nketiah is now thought to be likely to be heading to the Championship on loan again for the rest of the campaign, which will have boosted Forest's chances of bringing him to the City Ground.

The Verdict

Forest are clearly in real need of some more firepower having registered the lowest amount of goals out of any side currently in the top six, and Nketiah is an option that looks like it would be very much ideal for Lamouchi's side to add more goals up front.

Therefore, this latest report of Aston Villa stepping away from making a move will be a real boost for the Reds, who will now need to focus on convincing Nketiah that they will be able to offer him regular minutes alongside Grabban during the rest of the campaign.

That will prove crucial in persuading both Arsenal and the forward to make the move happen, with Nketiah needing to regular starts now after not featuring from the start enough at Leeds - and if Forest can offer him regular game time then it would be an excellent move for both parties.
