Joe Worrall has put pen to paper on a new deal with Nottingham Forest, the club have now confirmed via their official website.

The 23-year-old has been a regular for the Reds this season, playing a huge role in helping them fight for promotion to the Premier League under Sabri Lamouchi.

The homegrown defender spent the whole of last season on at Rangers, and he has since made 34 appearances in all competitions this season following his return from Ibrox.

Worrall has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Championship this season, forging a solid understanding with Tobias Figueiredo in a defence that has conceded only 31 league goals this term.

Now, the defender has signed a new deal at the City Ground which will keep him on Trentside until 2024, with his previous deal set to run out in 2022.

The Verdict

This is a massive piece of business by Forest to tie Worrall down to a new deal.

He is one of their own and has so much love for the club, and that is clear to see when he pulls on a shirt every week.

He is a leader and he has really stepped up to the plate when Michael Dawson has been injured, so he undoubtedly deserves this new contract.

Ryan Yates, Tyler Walker, Matty Cash and Joe Worrall - just a handful of homegrown players who are all desperate to help Forest win promotion to the top-flight.
