Nottingham Forest yesterday confirmed that right-back Eric Lichaj had left the club to join Championship side Hull City.

The American, who has won 15 caps for his country, was a fans favourite at the City Ground with supporters appreciating his determination and desire when wearing the shirt.

As well as that, he will be remembered fondly for his stunning volley in the memorable FA Cup win against Arsenal earlier in the year.

However, since Aitor Karanka took over, the 29-year old has struggled to establish himself as a regular in the team, with Tendayi Darikwa preferred. That saw Lichaj restricted to substitute appearances or filling in at left-back which isn't his natural position.

Therefore, they decided to let Lichaj move on to the Tigers but he took to twitter to thank the Forest fans for their support during his time at the club.

The former Aston Villa man is one of many who are set to leave the Reds this summer as Karanka makes major changes to the squad as he looks to build a side that can compete for promotion.

The Verdict

This is a good way of how players should try and leave clubs, with Lichaj still a favourite to Forest fans and he still clearly loves the club.

He gave his all whilst wearing the shirt but ultimately it was the right time to move on as he needs to be playing regularly and that wouldn't happen next season.

Now, Hull will be hoping he has a similar impact at the KCOM Stadium.
