Nottingham Forest may well be looking like promotion candidates this season, but their fans have been through a few years of misery.

Perhaps the worst spell in the last few seasons has been the stint of French coach Philippe Montanier.

Montanier joined the club after a successful spell with Ligue Un club Rennes, whom he managed for 115 games.

His spell started good, but overall he managed just 9 wins at the club.

The Frenchman’s time at the club lasted just 30 games, and he was sacked after a run of just 2 points from a possible 21 and only two clean sheets in 30 games.

Here, we look at the three worst Montanier memories.

Do you agree, or can you think of worse moments that we’ve missed? Let us know in the comments below.

In a strange and bizarre turn of events, Montanier reportedly lost his dressing room at half time, leading captain Eric Lichaj to make substitutions at Wigan away in the cup.

Forest lost the game and Montanier lost his job not long after.

Derby defeated Forest comfortably in December 2016, and Forest were humiliated in the rivalry game like not seen in many years.

Nicklas Bendtner scored an own goal before Tom Ince and Will Hughes added to the Reds’ pain.

Another truly embarrassing moment where Montanier’s leadership was truly questioned came where Assombalonga and Lansbury had a minute-long argument about who was to take the penalty.

Fair enough, perhaps, but it was in injury time and Forest were already 2-0 down at home to Cardiff – a sign of Montanier’s poor management.
