After scoring a mere 37 goals during the 2020/21 campaign, Chris Hughton has been looking to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new season.

One name that seems to be high on Forest's priority list is Dinamo Zagreb striker Sandro Kulenovic. The 21-year-old has fallen out of favour with the Croatian champions, sparking Forest into action.

Kulenovic spent last season on loan with fellow Croatian club HNK Rijeka, scoring seven goals and grabbing four assists in 17 starts and 14 appearances from the bench.

The young striker also has 15 minutes of action to his name already this season, playing 15 minutes for Zagreb during the first leg of a Champions League qualifier against Icelandic club Valur Reykjavik.

The Reds have already seen a bid rejected for the 21-year-old, but they have since returned with a loan offer with its outcome yet to be disclosed.

However, the young forward's perceived availability is capturing the attention of Europe and now Forest will have to compete with teams who play in the top tier of their respective countries.

On Wednesday, Turkish website fotoMac confirmed that Trabzonspor were an interested party.

Also in pursuit are Ligue 1 club Saint Etienne, who have now heightened their interest, as reported by sport.fr.

The verdict

Forest's quest for a striker continues and it is appearing to be a struggle.

Kulenovic has been targeted for a while with limited progress, whilst they have also had difficulties in their chase for Zian Flemming.

Forest are in search of a forward who brings something different. There is no denying that Lewis Grabban and Lyle Taylor can excel at this level, but a younger forward who constantly looks to cause problems in behind what the club needs at this stage.

The Reds have a strong spine at present and are nearing a squad that is capable to be fighting at the right end of the Championship table.
