Sky Bet Championship side Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Burnley forward Matej Vydra on loan until the end of the season, according to The Sportsman.

The striker wouldn’t have been too much of a popular figure at the City Ground last season, where he scored 22 goals in 44 games for arch rivals Derby County, helping the Rams to a play-off semi-final finish.

The 26-year old then sealed an £11million move to Sean Dyche’s Burnley, but has since fallen out of favour at Turf Moor, making just three starts in the Premier League this season.

Reports have now surfaced, however, that the Reds are interested in landing the Czech Republic international on loan until the end of the season, as Forest look to bolster their attacking options.

The Reds have already been active on deadline day with the signing of Pele from AS Monaco, and the East Midlands club are also being linked with a move to sign Wolves’ Leo Bonatini on loan as well.

Forest currently sit 9th in the Sky Bet Championship table, four points off the play-off places.

The Verdict

What a signing and what a massive coup this would be for Forest if they managed to sign Vydra on loan until the end of the season.

His move to Burnley hasn’t gone as well as he would have liked, but he’s still a fantastic attacker who definitely has the ability to score goals at this level once again.

To have two of the leading goalscorers in the Championship from last year up front in Vydra and Lewis Grabban, will be a very exciting prospect for Forest fans.
