Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in bringing Ado Den Haag defender Wilfried Kanon, according to the Mail Online live blog (10:46)

The 6ft 2in Ivorian, who is capable of playing both as a centre-back and as a left-back, has been with the Dutch side since 2013 but could now be set for a transfer to the Championship with Martin O'Neill's side.

He has turned out 18 times in the Dutch Eredivisie this season to help his side into 11th place, playing over 100 times for the club in his six years.

If O'Neill were to complete a deal for the defender he would become the Reds third signing of the summer, following Leicester City's Yohan Benalouane and Monaco's Pele.

The Irishman will be keen to kick the Reds' season back into gear after taking over from Aitor Karanka earlier in the transfer window.

They currently sit in ninth place with 29 matches played, but just four points behind Derby County who occupy the final spot in the play-off places.

The verdict

This would be a good signing but only at the right price.

Yes, he has proven himself in Holland but that is rarely a guarantee of success in England.

Having lost Danny Fox, they could definitely do with another centre-back through the door but they need to make sure he is the right one.
