Nottingham Forest have seen a bid for James Tavernier knocked back by Rangers, according to the Scotsman.

The former Wigan and Rotherham United man is wanted by Forest manager Mark Warburton, who is keen to add Tavernier to his squad after being impressed with the right back during their time together at Ibrox.

However, it appears that Rangers are not so keen to sell at the first opportunity, and have reportedly rejected Forest's first approach for the 25-year-old.

Rangers though are thought to be willing to sell Tavernier, with manager Pedro Caixinha looking to reshape his squad heading into next season, where he will be hoping to narrow the gap to runaway leaders and local rivals Celtic in the SPL.

Tavernier began his career with Newcastle United before a series of loan moves saw him build a decent reputation for himself. His form at Rotherham United earnt him a move to Wigan on a permanent deal, and he continued to impress for the Latics, before being snapped up by the Gers in 2015.

However, it now seems he is destined to move back to England, and Forest will more than likely make a move again to sign the defender.

Forest fans, what do you think to this news? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
