Aitor Karanka is close to completing his fifth signing of the summer transfer window with Algerian striker El Arbi Hillel Soudani set for his medical on Friday, according to La Buteur

The Dinamo Zagreb man has held positive talks with Forest and has reportedly agreed terms on a contract at the big-spending Championship club.

The reports claim that Forest will pay an initial £3million for the striker, but Dinamo have installed a sell on clause.

Soudani was close to joining Forest in January only for the move to fall through at the last second.

The 30-year-old scored 17 goals and assisted nine more in 27 appearances for the Croatian club last season, and has been at the club for five seasons now.

This would be Karanka's fifth addition to his squad already after Joao Carvalho and Diogo Goncalves joined from Benfica, Gil Dias signed from Monaco and veteran defender Michael Dawson joined from Hull City.

The verdict

In all honesty, this looks like a bit of a daft move from Forest.

With Soudani already in his 30s, he really has to start firing right from the start, and I just cannot see him doing that.

With only 17 goals in Croatia last season I cannot see how he will become the man to fire Forest into the Premier League.

There are far better options in the Football League who would do a much better job.
