Nottingham Forest could be set to hand a short-term deal to former Dundee United striker Idris Kaddad, according to reports from the Nottingham Post.

The 20-year-old came through the ranks at French club Nice, before moving to Scottish Championship side Dundee United, after a brief stint with Vaulx-en-Velin.

The Frenchman failed to start a single game for the Scottish side during his six-month stay with the club, making just two appearances coming off the bench.

But Kaddad has recently been spotted playing for the Forest under-23 side, featuring for 64 minutes in the Reds' defeat to Bolton Wanderers on Monday afternoon - reports have surfaced that Aitor Karanka's men have offered him a short-term deal.

It is likely that the French forward will join the under-23 set-up at the City Ground - the Reds have plenty of options up front with the likes of Lewis Grabban, Karim Ansarifard and Daryl Murphy in their ranks.

Forest currently sit four points off the play-off places, ahead of an away trip to the division's strugglers Reading this coming weekend.

The Verdict

Kaddad looks to be a really exciting player on paper, and he has obviously impressed Forest if they are going to offer him a deal, albeit a short-term one.

He isn't likely to break into the first-team anytime soon, so if he keeps his head down and puts in a string of impressive performances in the under-23s, who knows what he can achieve.

Forest need some long-term options, with the likes of Murphy and Grabban both getting on a bit.
